About Us

Founded in 1969, Greater Kalamazoo Mothers of Multiples (GKMOMs) is an organization centered on the emotional support of moms of multiple birth children. The following is an overview of what GKMOMs has to offer.

General Meetings

Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month (except July). The meetings may include member introductions, a guest speaker, small group discussions, a short business meeting, announcement of upcoming events, and refreshments.

Online Group Information Sharing Private Website

We are proud to belong to BigTent. BigTent is an online community forum where we can participate with one another and organize our MOMs group events. There is a invaluable amount of information shared between members in a blog, a marketplace for posting items for sale or wanted items, a group calendar with events, birth dates, anniversaries, etc. BigTent is an extraordinary addition to our club which allows us busy MOMs to connect at our convenience to share information and bond with one another.

Mentoring Program

The club offers to pair a new or expectant mom with an experienced mom of multiples. This one-on-one relationship provides a personal way to share parenting experiences and answer specific questions. Moms are matched with those of similar experiences whenever possible.

Special Events

We know life can be extra hectic with multiple children so we provide plenty of opportunities for families, or just mom, to get out. Some events include a swim party, Easter party, summer picnic, Halloween party, mom's night out, and scrap-booking nights.

Playgroups

Monthly playgroups are offered by several members at their homes or at local parks/ commercial establishments.

Sitter Swap

GKMOMs has a group of women who exchange babysitting between them using our Sitter Swap program developed by loyal member Karol K. This program is very easy to use and allows members to utilize other multiple Moms for free child care.

Newsletter

A monthly newsletter is distributed containing information about upcoming meetings, membership business, birth announcements, parenting tips, as well as a classified section.

State and National Organization Affiliations

A GKMOMs membership automatically includes memberships in the Michigan Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs (MOMOTC) and the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs (NOMOTC). Members receive quarterly newsletters from both organizations containing a myriad of valuable information.

Lasting Friendships

Many long-term friendships among the children as well as the moms have been formed over the years. All GKMOMs members are bound together by facing the same joys and challenges with their multiple birth children. GKMOMs share a few tears and a whole lot of laughter.

Babysitting Opportunities

If you are interested in providing in our home child care for our families with twins, triplets, or quadruplets, please email us your resume including a cover email with specifics about yourself to info@gkmom.org.
